Saxony: Upper Lusatia Chamber Music Festival with ten concerts

Bautzen/Görlitz (dpa/sn) - The Upper Lusatia Chamber Music Festival (KMO) is offering ten concerts in the East Saxon region this autumn (September 8th to 15th). These include the baroque Neschwitz Castle (Bautzen district) and Krobnitz Castle and the Ebersbach Church (Görlitz district), as the organizers announced on Thursday. Renowned soloists such as violist Nils Mönkemeyer, clarinetist Dimitri Ashkenazy, cellist Jan Vogler and mandolinist Avi Avital have been announced. The Dresden Kreuzchor is also expected.

Director Hagen W. Lippe-Weißenfeld spoke of "musical fireworks in a class of their own". The festival has developed into a magnet in the classical music scene and makes chamber music tangible in all its facets, forms of expression and formants. A long-term partnership project called "KMO meets School" has its premiere: visiting artists go to the music classes of general schools at the venues and discuss with young people about music and art, but also about society, democracy or homeland.

The KMO is Saxony's youngest classical music festival and premiered in 2020. This time, musicians from twelve countries are giving concerts in seven castles and two churches in the region - according to the information, around 1400 tickets are now available.
