The mother of the boy Rayan, who aroused a wide wave of international solidarity after his death at the age of 5 after falling into a well in northern Morocco, gave birth to a baby boy on Thursday on the anniversary of the deadly incident. of his son, as reported by his father, Khalid Aouram.
Aouram explained that his wife, Soumaya Kharchich, gave birth yesterday at the Saniat El Raml Regional Hospital Center in Tetouan, in northeastern Morocco, and has indicated that the child is in "good health."
Apparently, his family has not yet chosen a name for the baby. Aouram has explained that his family left the remote village of Ighran, where the drama took place, and currently lives in Tetouan, where they bought a house thanks to financial aid granted by King Mohamed VI after the death of his son.
In recent hours, several Moroccan media have released a photo of the mother teaching the baby and have collected a brief statement from his father in which he assures that this coincidence in dates is a "miracle". Rayan fell on February 1, 2022, into a narrow 32-meter-deep well dug near his parents' home in the mountainous town of Ighran, in the northern province of Chefchaouen.
After a vertical excavation operation in the mountain to reach directly to the floor of the well, Rayan was rescued lifeless, which caused a great commotion in Morocco. Rayan's rescue efforts, in which he dug parallel to the well to reach the boy, were followed around the world and his case aroused a tide of solidarity with artists, politicians and athletes sending messages of solidarity with the child's family.
After the announcement of his death, Pope Francis thanked the people of Morocco for their example with the unity shown in the fight to try to save little Rayan.
