The exject of the Intelligence Agency of Kazakhstan has been arrested for suspicion of high betrayal, has indicated this organ on Saturday, after having been dismissed in the midst of the recent violent protests.
The National Security Committee (KNB) has indicated in a statement that its previous person responsible Karim Masimov had been arrested on Thursday after an investigation for high betrayal crimes began.
"On January 6, this year, the National Security Committee has initiated a preliminary ruling investigation," says the statement.
"On the same day, under suspicion of committing this crime, the former director of Knb K.K. Masimov was arrested and put into a temporary detention center, next to others," he adds.
Masimov, nearby ally of the founding President of the country Nursultán Nazarbáyev, has been dismissed from his position as head of the KNB this week after protesters penetrated in Government buildings of Almaty, the largest city of Kazakhstan.
