After Hilary Duff's protest: Aaron Carter's memoir to be published later

Aaron Carter's memoir was originally scheduled to be released on November 15th. The publisher had to put up with harsh allegations, including from his teenage love Hilary Duff. Now the publication is postponed.

Aaron Carter's memoirs have been postponed. A lawyer said Ballast Books and author Andy Symonds have decided to delay publication indefinitely "out of respect for the Carter family," according to the Los Angeles Times, among others.

A statement quoted by the newspaper said of the content: "Public attention has recently focused on a small number of interactions in Mr. Carter's early years. The more important story is about Mr. Carter's life as a whole and of what people can learn from his professional success, his personal struggles and his tragic death."

Aaron Carter: An Incomplete Story of an Incomplete Life was originally scheduled for release on November 15th. The decision to delay the release comes shortly after Hilary Duff publicly criticized the publisher for doing so. The 35-year-old accused the Daily Mail of publishing the book so quickly "to capitalize on the tragedy without allowing a reasonable amount of time or taking the diligence to verify the facts". Duff and the singer dated for a year in the early 2000s.

The release "is against Aaron's wishes," a spokesman for Page Six said. Accordingly, Carter would have distanced himself from the book during his lifetime and tried to prevent it from appearing. The author Symonds initially argued against it. "His life has been far from pretty, and understandably some people in the public eye don't want some of the stories Aaron tells in his book to come out, but that doesn't make them any less true or newsworthy."

The "I Want Candy" singer was found dead in the bathtub at his Lancester home in November. He was only 34 years old. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
