Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - After the violent death of a mediator in front of a restaurant in Stuttgart, the thug responsible was sentenced to five years in prison. The criminal chamber of the Stuttgart district court accused the man of bodily harm resulting in death on Thursday and also decided to send him to a rehabilitation center.
The 26-year-old Turk admitted the fatal blow last February during the course of the process. He had been very drunk, had taken drugs and had no idea that the punch could have such consequences, he explained. He did not consider the 44-year-old victim to be an arbitrator, but an attacker.
The court was convinced of the responsibility of the accused man - and of the complete innocence of the victim. The decisive blow can be seen on the recording of a surveillance camera. The 44-year-old had tried to settle the dispute when he had to take the fatal blow. He then fell to the ground almost unchecked and died five days later.
