Don't follow your GPS! The Autobahn GmbH warns drivers in the region around Pforzheim and Gruibingen against blindly trusting the route announcement this weekend - because it is being built again.

Pforzheim (dpa / lsw) - If you are driving on the Autobahn 8 at the weekend, you should make a detour in two places. Due to several construction measures in the course of the six-lane expansion ("Enztalquerung"), the route between the junctions Pforzheim-Süd and Pforzheim-Nord will be closed in both directions from today (about 10 p.m.). According to the Southwest branch of Autobahn GmbH, the closure should end on Sunday around 8 p.m.

Nationwide, traffic between the Leonberg motorway junction (Böblingen district) and the Walldorf motorway junction (Rhein-Neckar district) will be diverted via the A81 and A6, it said. Detours are also signposted around Pforzheim. Autobahn GmbH appealed to all road users to "keep to the posted detours and not to follow the route recommendations of navigation systems".

Parts of the route had previously been closed due to construction work. This time, among other things, a district road bridge is to be demolished and a blast carried out on a rocky slope.

Also on the A8 in the district of Göppingen, travelers in the direction of Munich have to plan more time due to the closure of the Gruibingen tunnel. Due to maintenance and repair work, the tunnel is closed in one direction on Friday and Saturday from around 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following day. Instead, drivers should exit at the Gruibingen service station via a makeshift exit and take the U 27 diversion route to the Mühlhausen junction. The diversion was signposted, it said.
