Baden-Württemberg: Black Forest Railway goes through again: tracks are sanded

Triberg (dpa / lsw) - After weeks of problems between Konstanz and Karlsruhe, the Black Forest Railway is running again without interruptions, according to the company. The connection on the section from Hausach to St. Georgen had been resumed, said a railway spokeswoman on Saturday. "This means that passengers on the Black Forest Railway are once again on the move from Offenburg to Constance," it said. Initially, the DB Regio trains will run every two hours, but the usual hourly service will be offered again when school starts on September 12th.

During regular inspections of the double-decker vehicles on the winding route, the railways found that the wheels were worn to an above-average extent. Since the end of June, passengers between Hausach (Ortenaukreis) and St. Georgen (Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis) have had to change to buses. This significantly increased the travel time.

In the meantime, the track on the route had been ground, the railway said. In addition, there was more lubrication, and there were also successful test drives.
