Baden-Württemberg: Bundeswehr: Special Forces Command opens visitor center

The reform of the Special Forces Command (KSK) has been going on for a good two years - it was triggered by cases of extremism. Now the elite unit of the Bundeswehr wants to open up more to the outside world.

Calw (dpa / lsw) - After cases of extremism and a reform of the Bundeswehr's elite unit, the Special Forces Command (KSK), a visitor center will open in Calw on Tuesday (2 p.m.). It is about more transparency and a stronger anchoring in society, said the command.

A good two years ago, the future of the elite unit seemed to be hanging in the balance after right-wing extremist incidents, the discovery of a soldier's weapon cache and irregularities in the handling of ammunition. The 2nd company of the command based in Baden-Württemberg was dissolved in July 2020. In addition, the association was prescribed a program consisting of 60 individual measures, which has now practically been completed.

The commander of the KSK, Brigadier General Ansgar Meyer, the Commissioner for the Armed Forces of the German Bundestag, Eva Högl (SPD), and the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, General Eberhard Zorn, are expected in Calw.
