Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The CDU politician and former Baden-Württemberg State Minister Hermann Schaufler is dead. The lawyer died on Thursday at the age of 75, as a spokeswoman for the CDU Baden-Württemberg announced on Saturday in Stuttgart.
CDU state chairman Thomas Strobl praised the native of Tübingen as a "special politician who always acted courageously and forward-looking". Schaufler, who in the 1990s, among other things, headed the state government's transport department, was a pioneer and mastermind for a modern mobility policy, Strobl said, according to a statement. Schaufler resigned in 1998 as part of a donation scandal.
