Baden-Württemberg: CDU state executive supports Strobl

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - After the parliamentary group and the presidium, the state executive of the Southwest CDU also supported Interior Minister and party leader Thomas Strobl in the so-called letter affair. The 62-year-old Strobl informed the extended management committee on Saturday evening in a switch about the public prosecutor's offer to end the proceedings against a payment of money. After a rather short discussion, it was agreed that unity must now be demonstrated, the German Press Agency learned from participants.

Strobl declared for the first time on Thursday evening that he wanted to pay a fine of 15,000 euros so that the proceedings against him would be discontinued. He had forwarded a letter from a lawyer to a journalist. The parliamentary group and the Presidium had also determined that there was no reason for resignation if Strobl accepted the public prosecutor's offer.
