Friedrichshafen (dpa / lsw) - Friedrichshafen customs officers found 18 liters of champagne and ten kilograms of coffee in a van during a check on Autobahn 96. The goods came from Switzerland and had not been reported to customs upon entry, as the main customs office announced on Thursday. In addition to the groceries, the 43-year-old driver of the van had 16 cordless screwdrivers and 17 chargers with 37 batteries with him. He has to pay import duties for the goods worth 6700 euros and answer for himself in a tax procedure. The man could not pay the money immediately on Tuesday, which is why customs seized part of the goods.
