Baden-Württemberg: Hessen for tax benefits for solar systems

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Baden-Württemberg and Hesse are also demanding tax breaks for operators of somewhat larger photovoltaic systems. The finance ministers of the two countries, Danyal Bayaz (Greens) and Michael Boddenberg (CDU), spoke out in Stuttgart on Friday in favor of exempting systems with a capacity of up to 30 kilowatts peak (kWp) from income tax. This is currently only possible with solar systems with an output of up to 10 kWp.

Bayaz said: "We have set ourselves the goal of making Baden-Württemberg climate-neutral by 2040 and every PV system supports us on this path." And Boddenberg added that private systems could make an important contribution to the energy transition, because every step counts here.

According to the finance ministers, the EU member states have recently been able to exempt the supply and installation of solar panels from sales tax under certain conditions. Both countries therefore spoke out in favor of implementing this option in the current annual tax law in national law.
