Baden-Württemberg: home series of SV Waldhof tears after 1: 2 against Essen

Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - The home series of SV Waldhof Mannheim has now also broken in the 3rd football league. After six wins in their own stadium, Mannheim lost 2-1 (1-2) against Rot-Weiss Essen on Saturday. The team coached by Christian Neidhart lost out to 1. FC Nürnberg in the second round of the DFB Cup last Tuesday (0-1). Due to the sixth defeat this season, the Mannheimers also lose touch with the top places.

The Waldhöfer fell behind early in the first half due to two goals from Ron Berlinski (5th/12th) before Dominik Martinovic at least managed to get the goal back (32nd). In front of 8910 spectators, the performance of the SVW seemed confused at first, before the team at least fought to convince. However, it did not live up to its own claim of being a top team in the league. After the change of sides, Mannheim pressed for the equalizer. But they failed again and again because of the strong RWE keeper Jakob-Karl Golz. In added time, Waldhof central defender Marcel Seegert saw the yellow-red card.
