Baden-Württemberg: How the smartphone supports physical education

Tübingen (dpa/lsw) - Displays are now being used in physical education classes: the BW school sports app aims to make active hours more modern. The program uses example videos to show the ideal motion sequences for various types of sport. The app is currently used primarily in upper school and in preparation for the Abitur. So far there are sequences for "moving in the water", "dancing, creating, acting" and "running, jumping, throwing". Ball sports are to follow.

Secretary of State Volker Schebesta (CDU) looked at how this works on Wednesday in Tübingen. He attended the Geschwister-Scholl-School and had the function demonstrated in a sports lesson. The school was one of the first users. According to the Ministry of Education, the app has already been downloaded more than 200,000 times and it went online at the end of 2022.

"The app supports both our teachers and our students. For example, in conducting lessons or preparing for exams independently and on their own responsibility," said Schebesta according to the announcement. The videos can also be viewed in slow motion. "The videos are super helpful," was the conclusion of one student.
