Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - For more starting eleven appearances at Karlsruher SC, coach Christian Eichner demands a further increase in performance in training from his goalscorer Mikkel Kaufmann. The Danish striker, who the club borrowed from FC Copenhagen in the summer, made only the second start after a long break in the 4-4 draw against FC St. Pauli on Saturday. He prepared the first two KSC goals and scored the fourth himself. "I have to train the way I play," Eichner advised the 21-year-old striker for the upcoming practice sessions. Training starts again on December 5th at the Baden second division soccer team.

"You can say today was my day. But it's the level that I can actually play," said Kaufmann. For his coach, performances during the week are just as important as assists in the game. "I have to aim to be in the starting XI. And I have to set an example," Eichner demanded.

He was aware that Kaufmann was the one who felt the biggest disappointment in the first half of the season when it came to his assignments. "It's also completely normal that he sometimes saw himself differently than we saw him," said the KSC coach. Kaufmann had to improve his training and reliability, he said. The Badeners had also missed the hoped-for victory against FC St. Pauli before the long World Cup break, but ended their series of bankruptcies after five league defeats in a row and got a point in the fight against relegation.
