Offenbach (dpa/lhe) - Employees of a security service foiled a robbery of a 61-year-old cashier at a drinks market in Offenbach. Three strangers tried to steal the cash register with the daily income on Saturday evening, as the police in Offenbach announced on Sunday.
The 61-year-old was on her way to the main building of the shopping center with the daily income when one of the perpetrators suddenly sprayed her with pepper spray and tried to snatch the cash register from her. According to the police, a security guard then jumped on the attackers, and he was also sprayed with pepper spray. With the help of employees called in, the security service finally put the robbers to flight. According to the information, the security guards also used pepper spray.
The cashier and the security staff suffered severe irritation of the respiratory tract and eyes and were treated on site, it was said. They were then taken to a hospital. The perpetrators fled without taking anything. They are now being searched for.
