Heidelberg (dpa / lsw) - A 19-year-old man was arrested in a Heidelberg cemetery after police officers picked him up with two knives and an ax. According to police, the incident happened on Thursday last week. The next day, the 19-year-old was taken into custody, the police said on Wednesday. He is also charged with aggravated assault, property damage and resisting law enforcement officers based on previous incidents.
The 19-year-old was first noticed by a witness who called the police. On the cemetery grounds, police officers discovered him with a kitchen knife in each hand. The man didn't want to drop the knife. "Rather, he held the knife blades against each other and made grinding movements in the direction of the police officers," says the police report.
Eventually he dropped the knives, but pulled out an ax and held it in his hand menacingly. The 19-year-old was overpowered by a police dog. He suffered a minor bite wound on his leg.
