Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Pastoral care for young people: Nordkirche ends qualification

Güstrow (dpa/mv) - The North Church wants to improve the pastoral care of young people with a further training offer. "The past pandemic years in particular have put a lot of strain on young people and it became clear how important people are who have the time and a feeling for their special needs and needs," said Bishop Tilman Jeremias in Güstrow on Wednesday. For the first time, 14 deacons, community and social workers have completed the one and a half year course, who work for both the Evangelical Lutheran North Church and the Catholic Archdiocese of Hamburg.

The aim is to enable the participants to deal with the needs and questions of young people in a particularly sensitive and open manner. It's about learning to be a conversational partner on an equal footing. According to the information, the course will be led by state youth pastor Annika Woydack, head of studies Pastor Matthias Selke from the Pedagogical-Theological Institute (PTI) and the supervisor and transactional analyst Christina Wendorff.
