Baden-Württemberg: Municipalities increase fees for resident parking

In several large cities, there are resident parking permits for just over 30 euros a year, the equivalent of 8 cents a day. This upper price limit was overturned - but some municipalities have not yet adjusted their fees, criticizes the German Environmental Aid.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In Baden-Württemberg, drivers in several municipalities have to dig much deeper into their wallets than before for their resident parking permit. According to a survey by German Environmental Aid, other cities are still considering this step. In Stuttgart there is still no concrete proposal for this, just like in Heilbronn. In Konstanz there was initially a push to raise the annual fee to 240 euros, but 120 euros have now been decided, the organization said. The proposal was shelved in Pforzheim.

In Baden-Württemberg, the cities are allowed to set the fees themselves. The new regulation has been in effect since July 2021, as the DUH announced. The previous upper limit of EUR 30.70 per year is no longer valid. In Freiburg, the costs for a resident's parking permit were raised by the city's statute at the end of last year from 30 to 360 euros per year. The regulation is exemplary. Tübingen also turned the price screw.

In Mannheim, drivers will pay 63.75 euros from next year and 95.63 euros from 2024. In Heidelberg 120 euros and in Karlsruhe 180 euros per year are due. In Ulm, 200 euros are required and from 2024 it should be 300 euros, as the DUH survey also revealed. In Reutlingen, 120 euros are currently due for a resident parking permit. Numerous smaller towns in the southwest have already made use of the fee collection.
