Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Freezing rain: Lessons are not compulsory

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - In view of the threat of freezing rain, parents in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania do not necessarily have to send their children to school on Monday. "If legal guardians do not send students to school for this reason, the absence of lessons cannot be considered unexcused," says the Ministry of Education in a statement from the state capital of Schwerin. Pupils of legal age could therefore decide for themselves whether they would like to come to class despite the weather.

The German weather service predicted thunderstorms with freezing rain in West Mecklenburg from Monday morning, there is a risk of black ice. From midday, the freezing rain is expected to reach Western Pomerania.
