Baden-Württemberg: Pforzheim is the German traffic jam leader

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - On the Autobahn 8 near Pforzheim, drivers lost most of their time in traffic jams nationwide in 2022. The section between Pforzheim-Ost and Pforzheim-Süd in the direction of Stuttgart was the traffic jam hotspot in Germany with 3200 hours of traffic jams, as the ADAC reported in its balance sheet for Baden-Württemberg. The reason for this is in particular the expansion of the A8 to six lanes. Work on the project is expected to last until 2026.

In all of Baden-Württemberg, the ADAC recorded a slightly longer traffic jam than in the previous year. There were more than 39,000 hours of waiting time in 2022 in slow or stationary traffic. In total, the automobile club counted almost 45,000 traffic jams with more than 91,000 kilometers of traffic jams.

According to the information, the most congested day in 2022 was June 3rd. On the first Friday before the Whitsun holidays, there was a traffic jam in the country for 273 hours. In general, the ADAC measures the highest traffic volume on Fridays.

In a national comparison, Baden-Württemberg ranks third in Germany with twelve percent of traffic jam hours. Only North Rhine-Westphalia with 31 percent and Bavaria with 17 percent are ahead of them. For 2023, the ADAC expects a further increase in traffic in Baden-Württemberg.
