Baden-Württemberg: smoke-filled apartment: residents defend themselves against the police

Pforzheim (dpa / lsw) - After smoke developed in their apartment, two people in Pforzheim defended themselves against police officers who had rushed to them, according to the police. One of them is said to have attacked an officer, the police said on Monday. The two residents - a 58-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman - and a police officer were taken to hospital on suspicion of smoke inhalation.

Although the building law office had found defects in a stove in the apartment, it was lit on Friday evening. As a result, the apartment and the stairwell of the apartment building were heavily smoked. A neighbor therefore called the fire brigade, which the resident did not want to enter, according to the police.

The 58-year-old also denied additional police officers access, and the emergency services finally forced him outside. The 50-year-old also persistently refused to leave the apartment - and resisted when the officers took her out. The 58-year-old then pushed a police officer and tried to grab his pepper spray and baton. In the meantime, the residents were handcuffed.
