Baden-Württemberg: Stuttgart Airport lost millions in the first half of the year

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Stuttgart Airport again recorded a loss in the millions in the first six months of the year. With a turnover of 91 million euros, there was a minus of 8.8 million euros, according to a statement published on Monday by the Ministry of Transport at the request of SPD members of the state parliament. An airport spokesman confirmed the figures.

The red figures come as no surprise. In April, the company had already forecast a loss in the tens of millions for 2022. The Corona crisis hit Stuttgart Airport hard. In 2021, the loss was around 25 million euros, after a loss of almost 100 million euros in the previous year.

According to preliminary figures, 2.8 million passengers took off and landed in the first half of the year, according to a statement in July. That was 338.5 percent more than in the same period last year. Compared to the passenger numbers of 2019, the record year before the pandemic began, the volume was only around two-thirds. More than six million passengers are expected by the end of the year.
