Baden-Württemberg: Summer day in October

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - sunbathing shirtless, licking an ice cream or strolling through the rustling autumn leaves: the golden October not only lived up to its name on Monday, but has even become a real summer's day in some places. As such, meteorologists call days when the temperature cracks the 25-degree mark. According to the German Weather Service, this is what happened in Lahr, Ohlsbach (both in the district of Ortenau), Emmendingen and at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport.

"We have an extraordinary day today," said an expert from the weather service in Stuttgart. Such temperatures are unusual, especially for the second half of October. However, the summer interlude is only short-lived: in the coming days it should remain quite mild with temperatures around 20 degrees, but not as warm as on Monday. In addition, the meteorologists are expecting showers or even thunderstorms in some places from this Tuesday.
