Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The users of the S-Bahn in Stuttgart have to be prepared for problems again in the summer holidays. From Saturday up to and including September 11, the main route of the S-Bahn between the main station and Vaihingen will be completely closed, as Deutsche Bahn announced on Wednesday. Around 400 kilometers of cable lines will be laid in the inner-city tunnel section in order to be able to switch to digital signaling technology from the end of 2025. The route will be equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS).
The conversion of the technology should make the main route alone at least 20 percent more efficient, according to Deutsche Bahn. As in the previous year, there will be replacement bus services during the closure.
