Paderborn (dpa/lsw) - After a hot final phase, SV Waldhof Mannheim suffered a setback in the fight for a top spot in the 3rd soccer league on Sunday. The team of coach Christian Neidhart did not get more than 2: 2 (0: 1) at SC Verl and is currently fifth in the table with four points from the first two league games.
The Mannheimers looked pompous in the first half and deservedly fell behind through Eduard Probst (41st minute). Stefano Russo scored the 1:1 (51st) in front of 1216 spectators in Paderborn. In the final phase, the guests initially took the lead thanks to a converted penalty kick from Alexander Rossipal (90'), before Mael Corboz scored the lucky but well-deserved 2-2 in the fourth minute of added time with a deflected shot from 16 meters out.
