Baden-Württemberg: Warning strikes started in the metal wage conflict in the southwest

Neckarsulm (dpa/lsw) - With the end of the peace obligation in the metal and electrical industry, IG Metall started the first warning strike in Baden-Württemberg. According to union information, more than 150 employees at the automotive supplier Kolbenschmidt and KS Huayu Alutech GmbH in Neckarsulm (Heilbronn district) temporarily stopped working from 12:10 a.m. on Saturday night.

"We stand here with determination and passion in this collective bargaining round," said the first representative of IG Metall Heilbronn-Neckarsulm, Michael Unser, according to a statement. "Quite simply because private consumption plays a lion's share in ensuring that the German economy runs." IG Metall is demanding eight percent more money for a term of one year.

As in the other collective bargaining areas, the employers' association Südwestmetall also offered a one-time payment of 3,000 euros and an unspecified increase in the salary scales for a period of 30 months. Since both sides have not been able to come to an agreement in three rounds, negotiations will continue in Böblingen on November 8th.
