Baden-Württemberg: Wheels worn out again: Black Forest Railway less frequent

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The Black Forest Railway remains one of the problem children of the railway in the southwest. From this Saturday (June 25), commuters will once again have to expect a thinned out timetable and fuller trains between Offenbach and Constance. The reason: As before, or once again, worn wheels on the trains have been found during investigations, as Deutsche Bahn announced on Friday. Until further notice, the trains will only run every two hours, while they continue to run hourly between Karlsruhe and Offenburg. Deutsche Bahn did not give an exact timeframe for the repairs.

Additional journeys by the Swiss Federal Railways between Offenburg and Constance in both directions are not affected. "Passengers who are traveling in the direction of Lake Constance, please also use these trains," said the railway.

At the beginning of February, the railways initially reduced connections on the Black Forest Railway for a month due to the corona situation. From mid-March, a thinned out timetable had already been explained with worn wheels.

The 47 million euro modernization of the Black Forest Railway began in March. The passage from Karlsruhe to Konstanz would actually have been possible again since November of last year, provided everything goes according to plan.
