Bavaria: Albers twice with a head: Jahn Regensburg conquered Betzenberg

Mersad Selimbegovic happily high-fived his players. After many mixed away games, Jahn Regensburg delivers a successful game at 1. FC Kaiserslautern. A Dane shines.

Kaiserslautern (dpa / lby) - With a double pack with his head, Andreas Albers helped SSV Jahn Regensburg to break free in the 2nd Bundesliga. The Danish striker could not be defeated by his opponents in the air in the 3-0 (1-0) win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Sunday and almost single-handedly ensured the fourth win of the season.

In front of 33,060 spectators, Albers was successful after a measured cross from first Lasse Günther and later Charalambos Makridis (8th and 57th minutes). Substitute Prince Owusu (85th) scored to make it 3-0 after the video referee was used, causing some Lautern fans to leave the stadium early.

"It's always special here, but it's also difficult to play," said double goalscorer Albers after the final whistle, adding: "We struck at exactly the right time."

Captain Benedikt Gimber said after the important three: "We had big plans because the last away games didn't go as we had imagined." This time, however, Jahn was able to offer his fans a lot.

Regensburg delivered a successful dress rehearsal for the DFB Cup duel on Wednesday against second division rivals Fortuna Düsseldorf on the atmospheric Betzenberg. After six draws in a row, Lautern left the field as a loser.

The Regensburgers gave it their all right from the start. An unsuccessful defensive action by Lautern's goalkeeper Andreas Luthe landed at the feet of Kaan Caliskaner (6th), who failed on the crossbar. After Alber's opening goal, Caliskaner (11th) even hit the wood a second time.

1. FC Kaiserslautern struggled against the compact Jahn defence, Regensburg continued to have better chances. Caliskaner (46') forced Luthe to make another save with his header. On the other side, Jahn goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic reacted brilliantly to a header from Terrence Boyd (73 ') after the 2-0 for the guests.
