Bavaria: Bavaria against cancellation of energy-saving subsidies for new buildings

Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria's state government criticizes the announced cancellation of subsidies for energy-efficient construction by the federal government. Finance Minister Albert Füracker (CSU) accused the traffic light coalition on Wednesday of damaging both climate protection and housing construction. "This is now a heavy blow for many people and young families who want to create an energy-efficient home," said Füracker.

Construction has become significantly more expensive in recent years, while at the same time energy-efficient construction is an important component of climate protection. "Many people have firmly calculated a subsidy. If, in addition to rising costs, the support is now to be stopped completely, a mainstay of financing will collapse for many," criticized the CSU politician. "Instead of accompanying families on their way to their own home, the subsidy is turned off and the situation for the construction industry is further aggravated."

Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) had previously stated that there should be no direct state subsidies for the construction of new energy-efficient houses, only interest rate reductions.
