Munich (dpa/lby) - Bavaria's palaces are celebrating a rush of visitors after the corona pandemic: More than 3.5 million people visited the palaces, castles, residences and cultural monuments last year. That is almost three times as many visitors as in 2021, said Finance Minister Albert Füracker (CSU) on Wednesday in Munich.
"The Walhalla in Donaustauf, the Willibaldsburg in Eichstätt, Trausnitz Castle in Landshut as well as the Old Castle Schleissheim and Castle Lustheim were particularly popular: in 2022 the castle administration was even able to welcome more visitors there than in 2019 before the corona pandemic," reported he.
As is so often the case, Neuschwanstein Castle was by far the best: more than 700,000 visitors were drawn there last year - after 180,000 in 2021. The Residenzmuseum in Munich had 280,000 visitors, the Nymphenburg Palace in Munich and the New Herrenchiemsee Palace each had around 270,000 visitor.
