Schönwald (dpa / lby) - Several people were slightly injured in a collision of eight cars on the A93 in Upper Franconia. A driver drove into a car in front of him on the Autobahn near Schönwald (Wunsiedel district) on Monday morning, the police said. According to current knowledge, the cause of the accident was the combination of a low-lying sun and a dirty windshield. In addition, the driver was driving too fast for the weather conditions.
The car in front of the driver who caused the accident was pushed off the roadway to the right by the impact. According to the police, six other drivers were no longer able to brake in time and there were further rear-end collisions. Five people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The A93 was closed southbound for several hours.
