Bavaria: Diocesan Council Chairman warns church against "laber rounds"

Munich (dpa / lby) - With a view to the reform process in the Catholic Church, the chairman of the Diocesan Council of Catholics in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, Hans Tremmel, warned against a standstill at the end of his term of office. "Anyone who wants to leave everything as it is after the terrible abuse is wasting all our time with fruitless chatter," said the theology professor on Friday in Ohlstadt (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district), according to the archdiocese. There is no alternative to the synodal path for the future of the Catholic Church in Germany.

Tremmel described it as a scandal that the reform initiative for Catholic sexual morals was thwarted by a minority of bishops at the beginning of September. Tremmel was chairman of the supreme lay committee of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising for twelve years. "It was my duty and honor," said Tremmel, according to the announcement. He is happy to be "more in charge of my own appointment calendar again".
