Bavaria: Dismembered cat found: reward for clues

Vaterstetten (dpa/lby) - After finding a dismembered cat in a playground in the Ebersberg district, the animal welfare organization PETA offered a 1,000 euro reward for information about the perpetrator. "Anyone who tortures animals may not shy away from acts of violence against people," said PETA specialist Jana Hoger on Monday. Cruelty to animals is not a trivial offense.

According to the police, unknown persons had dismembered the house cat, which is probably alive, on Saturday and distributed its limbs on an adventure playground in Vaterstetten. Initially, several media had reported on the find.

When searching the area with sniffer dogs, investigators found a stone with blood and an ax, a police spokesman said on Monday. Further investigations would have to clarify whether the two objects are related to the case. The finds are now to be examined, among other things, for DNA traces.
