Munich (dpa / lby) - The former Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josef Pschierer has left the CSU - and is already a member of the FDP parliamentary group. The parliamentary group decided unanimously to include Pschierer, said FDP parliamentary group leader Martin Hagen after the parliamentary group meeting on Wednesday. He praised: "Franz Josef Pschierer is a free spirit and one of the most prominent market economy voices in the Bavarian state parliament. He is an asset to the FDP."
Pschierer said that in terms of content, there had been overlaps between him and the FDP in the past. He also defended the traffic light, adding that one cannot blame everything on the federal government, as is now being done "by some people". The Union was in the federal government for 16 years.
In addition, Pschierer made it clear how much he had been surprised by a counter-candidate in his constituency. Things have happened in the past few days that he simply cannot accept. The relationship of trust between him and important people at the CSU base was no longer there. That was the initial spark for him, said Pschierer. Then he looked for a new political home - and that was the FDP.
Whether he wants to run for the FDP for the state parliament is open and not a matter of course. But he emphasized: “I didn’t want to end this legislative period in the intriguing town.”
