Bavaria: Holetschek: Prepare hospitals for the consequences of climate change

Munich (dpa/lby) - According to the Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek, Germany's hospitals must be better prepared for the consequences of climate change. "I see this as one of the central issues for the future, because climate and health are two sides of the same coin," said the CSU politician on Friday in Munich. "The federal government must finally contribute more to the climate-friendly expansion of hospitals," added Holetschek.

Bavaria introduced a Federal Council initiative in July. On the one hand, it is about causing fewer greenhouse gas emissions in the healthcare sector. "On the other hand, the consequences of climate change sometimes have a massive impact on health, especially for vulnerable groups." The Free State has "launched a wide range of programs to strengthen climate resilience".
