Wismar/Wesenberg (dpa/mv) - Two fires in Wesenberg (Mecklenburg Lake District) and in the zoo in Wismar caused damage totaling around 180,000 euros. As police spokesman said on Friday, both fires occurred late Thursday evening. No people or animals were injured.

Shortly before midnight, a car burned in a carport attached to an outbuilding on the grounds of the care facility in Wesenberg. The flames spread to a lawn tractor and the outbuilding where garden tools were stored. The fire brigade extinguished the flames, there was no danger to the residents of the nursing home. They are investigating on suspicion of arson.

On the grounds of the Wismar zoo, there was a fire in a garage where several vehicles were parked. A multicar and large parts of the garage were destroyed by the fire, a police spokesman said.
