Since corona vaccinations have been available, counterfeits have kept investigators busy. In Bavaria alone, the number of cases is in the thousands, as reported by the State Criminal Police Office.
Munich (dpa / lby) - In the past two years, more than 5500 reports of fake corona vaccination certificates have been reported in Bavaria. This was announced by the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office in Munich at the request of the German Press Agency.
These include fake stickers, certificates, labels, stamps and proof of recovery. Thousands of vaccination records and vaccination certificates (as of November 24, 2022) have been secured since spring 2021. In 2021 it was a "middle four-digit number", in 2022 a "low four-digit number".
On November 25, the Munich I Regional Court sentenced the employee of a Munich pharmacy to three years in prison for more than 1,000 cases of false corona vaccination certificates. The court imposed a four-year prison sentence on an acquaintance of the woman who is also accused of having sold the vaccination certificates, among other things for violations of the Infection Protection Act.
The court found it proven that the duo had falsified vaccination certificates on a large scale for several months in 2021. The 37-year-old offered this for sale on the Darknet, and he is said to have earned more than 130,000 euros in total.
"The case is a procedure of outstanding importance because of the sophisticated technical procedure, but also because of the considerable allegation," said Matthias Held, spokesman for the Bavarian Central Office for Combating Fraud and Corruption in the Health Care System (ZKG) at the Nuremberg Public Prosecutor's Office, which in the proceedings brought by the prosecution.
According to Helds, the case is only one of two particularly serious cases in which the ZKG brought charges. Usually, the local public prosecutor's office is responsible for counterfeit vaccination cards.
