The man's 81-year-old wife and another 49-year-old resident were taken to hospital with severe smoke inhalation. The fire brigade rescued other residents of the apartment building using ladders from the balconies, others were made aware of the fire by ringing, calls for help and noise from falling components and were able to leave the house unharmed. After the fire, the residents were temporarily not allowed to enter the building.
