Obertraubling (dpa / lby) - After attending a concert, a man in the Upper Palatinate was hit by a car and dragged along for several meters. The 42-year-old was seriously injured in the accident on Saturday night - the driver just drove on without taking care of the victim lying on the street in Obertraubling, the police said.
With the help of a witness, it was possible to locate the alleged driver of the accident. The 28-year-old was found by a patrol in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in Regensburg. The young man admitted to officials that he was at the same concert as the 42-year-old. He did not comment on the course of the accident.
He was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. During his preliminary arrest, the man fought back and slightly injured two officers.
He was released after a blood draw. He is now being investigated on suspicion of endangering road traffic, unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident and failure to provide assistance.
