Marktschellenberg (dpa / lby) - A 53-year-old who has been missing for five days has been discovered dead in the Berchtesgaden Alps. According to police reports from Friday, an Austrian police helicopter discovered his body on Thursday at an altitude of 1460 meters on the Untersberg near Marktschellenberg (Berchtesgadener Land district). Accordingly, the 53-year-old had been reported missing since October 29. He fell several hundred meters down the Untersberg and died immediately. The police couldn't say when that was.
Together with three mountain guides, the alpine task force rescued the man on Thursday, it was said. Now the German police are investigating together with the Austrian one about the initially unclear course of events.
