Bavaria: murder of ex-girlfriend and her child: life imprisonment demanded

Coburg (dpa / lby) - Because of a double murder of his ex-girlfriend and her two-year-old daughter, a defendant should go to prison for life. The public prosecutor demanded this on Monday in the process before the Coburg district court. The criminal court wanted to announce the verdict on late Monday afternoon.

The public prosecutor accuses the Moroccan of having stabbed the woman and her daughter to death at Pentecost last year in an accommodation for asylum seekers in Kronach. The man had denied murder in court. He only wanted to hurt his ex-partner, said the 35-year-old.

The public prosecutor's office also applied for the particular severity of the guilt. If the criminal court were to determine this, the perpetrator could only be released on probation after 15 years in exceptional cases. The defender spoke out against this increase in punishment. The lawyer pointed out that his client had caused himself serious injuries after the bloody attempt in a suicide attempt.

The man had doused himself with liquid grill lighter and set himself on fire. This caused a deflagration. Rooms in the accommodation also caught fire. The accused survived with serious injuries and is still marked by the burn injuries to this day.
