Bavaria: Nuremberg city council: 365-euro ticket rejected

Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - In Nuremberg, despite sufficient signatures, there should be no referendum on the introduction of a 365-euro ticket. The city council rejected a corresponding citizens' initiative on Friday. In a special session, a large majority voted against it, the city reported.

The management's proposal for the city council meeting stated that the ticket could not be reconciled with the principle of economy and economy. "A very small transport policy and socio-political benefit is offset by very high costs of 23.6 million euros," argued the administration.

The organizers had collected 18,000 signatures for a vote on the 365-euro annual public transport ticket. The initiative started the request after the city canceled its plans to introduce such a cheap ticket for buses and trains due to lack of money.

The initiators of the request could not initially be reached for comment on Friday. According to several media reports, they are now preparing a lawsuit against the city in order to get a vote on the 365-euro ticket after all.
