After three weeks, LF System, a Scottish dance group, has topped the UK singles charts. They have replaced Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill.

The feat was achieved by the DJ duo with Afraid to Love, which was streamed over 5.5 million times in the past seven days.

The song is based on a sample from Silk's 1975 disco track I Can't Keep (Turning you On). It has since become a TikTok viral hit.

With Last Night in the Bittersweet, his first album in eight years and his first release in eight year's time, fellow Scot Paolo Nutini is at the top of the album charts.

This is the star’s third number-one album after Sunny Side Up in 2009 and Caustic Love in 2014.

Last Night in the Bittersweet was also the most-purchased physical album of the week, topping the vinyl charts.

Kate Bush was the star of Running Up That Hill, which topped UK charts last month, exactly 37 years after its original release.

It was popularized by Stranger Things, a Netflix sci-fi drama where it plays an important role.

Bush spoke out in rare interviews to say that it was amazing that her music has reached "a whole new audience" because of the show.

She told Radio 4's Woman's Hour, "The thought that all these really young people hear the song for their first time and discovering its beauty is, well... it's very special."

Running Up That Hill remains the UK's most-streamed song, with 550,000 plays per day on Spotify alone.

It has however been subject to an "accelerated decline" chart rule over the past seven day.

This measure was created in 2017 to keep the charts fresh after Drake's seemingly endless 15-week-long run at number one with One Dance.

A new song can earn one "sale” for every 100 streams. However, songs that are older or declining must be streamed at least 200 times before any single "sale” is calculated.

This was enough to give LF System an edge and they swept to the top.

It was the dream of Conor Larkman, Sean Finnigan and Sean Finnigan.

They posted the following to social media: "Just over 2 years ago, we played our first show, and just over 2 months ago, we were still working our jobs," when midweek charts positioned them at the top of this week's charts.

Bush's decision to accelerate his decline also benefited Harry Styles. His single As It Was rose to number 2, while Running Up That Hill landed in third.

Metallica could be in the midst of a Stranger Things-assisted chart assault.

After appearing in a recent episode, Master Of Puppets is experiencing a revival.

This week, it makes its debut UK chart appearance at number 47. Metallica may be able to achieve their first Top 40 single since 2008's The Day That Never Comes, if they continue to grow their streams and sales.
