Bavaria: pensioner hands gold and silver coins to scammers

Bad Brückenau (dpa / lby) - A pensioner lost gold and silver coins worth around 100,000 euros to fraudsters in the Bad Kissingen district. The 82-year-old handed over a bag with the coins to a previously unknown man in Bad Brueckenau on Thursday, the police said on Friday. The pensioner had previously received a so-called shock call. The scammers posed as law enforcement officials, claimed the man's daughter was at fault in a fatal traffic accident, and demanded bail. The police headquarters in Lower Franconia warns of such shock calls and refers to its prevention campaign "Leg'auf!".
