Bavaria: Sentences to six years in prison for fraud are final

Augsburg (dpa / lby) - The conviction of an accused to six years in prison for large-scale fraud with care services is final. As the Augsburg district court reported on Wednesday, both the accused man and the public prosecutor's office have withdrawn their appeals against the March verdict.

The person responsible for an outpatient care service was convicted because he had illegally billed care services worth more than two and a half million euros in the period from 2014 to 2019. During the trial, the accused had agreed on a repayment with the damaged health insurance companies and social welfare agencies.

A co-accused was given a suspended sentence for assisting in fraud. The proceedings at the Augsburg Regional Court are still ongoing against two other suspected participants.
