Bavaria: series of burglaries in schools: suspects arrested

Bayreuth (dpa / lby) - A series of burglaries in schools in and around Bayreuth seems to have been cleared up. Two men aged 29 and 35 are said to have broken into schools, sports centers and a butcher's shop. As the police announced on Friday, the suspects could be linked to a total of 14 burglaries, eleven of them in schools.

On Tuesday, a witness in a Bayreuth school noticed the triggering of a motion detector. He informed the police, who were noticed by the burglars when they arrived. The suspects fled and were arrested shortly afterwards.

During a search of the apartment, the police found money and electronics, which led the officials to conclude the break-ins. The men are now in custody. The property damage is in the five-digit range.
