Bavaria: State Parliament and State Chancellery lower the temperature in winter

Munich (dpa/lby) - In view of the tense energy supply situation, the state parliament in Bavaria and the state chancellery are planning to lower their building temperatures for the winter. The state parliament told the German Press Agency that the flow temperature of the heating system should be lowered step by step to 20 degrees. The State Chancellery also responded to a request - but did not name a temperature.

"In view of the current energy situation, the cooling temperature has already been reduced in the summer months and the shading of the south facade has been optimized by applying foils," said a spokesman for the State Chancellery. According to the administration, the cooling capacity in coolable technical, event and meeting rooms in the state parliament was adjusted to 26 degrees.

Further optimization possibilities are being examined in both houses. The state parliament and state chancellery also refer to ongoing energy saving measures and renovations. As an example, the speaker of the state parliament named the use of LED lighting, motion detectors, heat recovery and solar systems. In the few offices with a water connection, there has been no hot water for years, and in future there will also only be cold water in the sanitary facilities - provided that this is not a problem in terms of hygiene. The 148-year-old Maximilianeum, where the state parliament mainly works, is currently being renovated with a view to saving energy.

A corresponding renovation is also currently underway at the entrance to the State Chancellery, and a photovoltaic system also produces electricity. "Furthermore, a new telephone system will be advertised with special consideration of energy efficiency," said the spokesman.
