Bavaria: suspected listeria in soft cheese: product recall

Waging am See (dpa / lby) - Bergader Privatkäserei GmbH warns of listeria in soft cheese with blue mold. It is the product "Bavaria blu Der Würzige 300g" with the best before date August 29, 2022 and the license plate number "4006402020550", as the company announced on Tuesday evening. Batches 0102 and 0140 are affected. The product is being recalled as a precaution.

According to the Lebensmittelwarning.de portal, only the state of Bavaria is affected. According to the company, the cheese was sold in branches of the discounters Lidl, Netto, Norma, Penny and in some regions also in Aldi Süd stores. According to the information, the cheese was also sold in Austria.

"During an internal routine check, listeria was found in a sample during monitoring. No listeria could be detected in the end products. However, it cannot be completely ruled out that the end product may contain listeria," the company said.

The bacterial germ Listeria monocytogenes can cause severe stomach and intestinal diseases. Listeria disease usually manifests itself within 14 days after infection with diarrhea and fever. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system in particular can develop more severe illnesses with blood poisoning and meningitis. In pregnant women - even without symptoms - the unborn child can be harmed.
