Munich (dpa/lby) - For the winners of this year's student Oscars it will be exciting again on Thursday - at the award ceremony in Los Angeles, the young directors will find out whether they will go home with gold, silver or bronze. With "Almost Home" by Nils Keller (31) and "Eigenheim" by Welf Reinhart (27), two films from the Munich University of Television and Film (HFF) are also in the running. "That's what you dreamed of when you started at the film school," said Keller of the German Press Agency.
Although the short films were already shown at various film festivals before they were nominated, Reinhart said he "definitely didn't expect" the student Oscar. "It's an incredible honor." "Almost Home" is about a mother-son conflict in space, in "Eigenheim" an elderly couple is threatened with eviction.
A total of 14 students from all over the world are honored at the Student Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
